The pump impelleer was blocked by a peice of plastic, I have removed this but now it no longer goes through a wash cycle, I have put 1 item of clothing in and set the programmer on a cold quick wash, the machine is filling and draing as expected, but on the wash cycle it appears to be hesidant the drum not turning continuosly, then it will tumble about 2 revolutions and go back into the hesidant rocking motion , please any advise would be fantasti, Nigel

could be something to do with the drain pump, the machine gives itself 3 mins to get bellow a water level before it spins, if it cant make the water level in 3 mins it stops because the weight of the water and clothes would be too much for the machine that would start to dance the tango, check the pump and sump for minor blockages first.

Dear sir,
I am sorry our chat got cut off. i had a power outage here where i am...
it is up to you weather you want to spend that much on replacing the transmission on your washer....
also the white spots on your clothes. that will be because of the detergant used. the washer is not getting all the soap out of the clothes there for it is getting stcuk on them... if you would like we can try another chat.... please let me know so i can be ready for you.

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

Your filter of the water inlet valve is accessible outside the machine; it is at the water entry point. Close your faucet & check this out; this gets clogged often.

Hope i am helpful...... Click on 'thanks for trying' if not helped, your prob will be back for someone else to solve.

Hi there are 3 possible causes.
1. Out of balance load (drum is divide into 3 sections if weight i one section is greater then 1.25kg than another section will not spin)
2.Carbon brushes ( Normally good for at least 10 years)
3. Vent from drain pump blocked.(Vent left front side of soap drawer. Visible when drawer removed)

The leaks in a washing machine could be coming from many different places in the washer.

The first place you need to check is behind the washer, check the two fill hoses and the water mixing valve.

The next thing to do is to remove the front panel, set the washer on the regular cycle and turn it on to start filling.

Use a drop light and check all the hoses under the washer as the washer is filling. Make sure to keep your hands away from any moving parts.

If the hoses are ok, check the pump for leaks. When the bearings in the pump wear out, that is when the pump will get noisy and that could cause your Maytag top load washing machine water leaks.

Another place that the washer could leak water from, is the stem & seal on the holding tank. When washer leaks water from the stem & seal, the water leaks down the center of the transmission.

When the stem & seal need to be replace, the tub bearing has to be replace at the same time. This is an expensive repair if you have to pay someone to do it. If you do it yourself it will cost you about $110
