My Kenmore front loader (model 417.40042990) makes a slapping noise at he start of the spin cycle and the tub is completely out of balance during the spin cycle. I tried the spin cycle with the machine empty and it does the same thing. The weights are in place and everything looks good. What can I do? Thanks.

I have a Performa Model PAV3200AWW that would go unbalanced every time it would go into a spin cycle. I found the problem to be a worn out snubber. This is a plastic ring that is at the pivot point for the whole tub. It separates the metal to metal contact at the bottom of the washer pivot point. The part is less than ten dollars, but it is a quit a job to replace. I had to remove the whole tub to replace mine, but it did solve the problem. If you see a lot of plastic shavings around the pivot point, then this could be your problem.

Sounds like your front to back spring is pulling to tight, sometimes you need to replace it and sometimes you can take it off and stretch it. hope this helps

BOTTOM OF TRIANGULAR PLATE ARE 3 SKID PADS, USUALLY WHITE OR BROKEN HALF MOON SHAPE WHEN WORN OUT RESULTS IN THIS

Make sure all springs are still in their place tilt the machine back and look under it and you can see them. 2nd all legs must be level as well as the floor.

please balance your washer and use smaller loads
