I have an ebac 2650E and the ice build up is not defrosting automatically and causing reduced performance

First of all, is it ice or frost? If it is ice, I would say you have a leaky water valve to icemaker, running down evap. coils. Replace water valve. If you have frost-find out why it is not defrosting(defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or defrost timer.

If freezer is icing up, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model

The following statement is a parameter for all dehumidifiers and some of the control issues may vary, but the theory is the same.

Most dehumidifiers have a "Frost Guard" mounted on the condensor coil. If frost accumulates on the condensor coil the frost guard turns the compressor off until the frost melts, then comes back on again. For the dehumidifier to work properly, the surrounding (ambient), temperature must be higher than 65 degress. This temperature allows the moisture in the air to condense on the coils and drip into the reservoir without freezing up on the condensor coil. Also, if the humidity is too low, (below 45%), the same condition will occur. So it will help to keep the parameters in mind when you have this issue.
If your model does not employ a "Frost-Guard" the condition you describe will avail itself when the above parameters are not met.
Simply unplug, or turn off the unit, until the above parameters are met or exceeded.

Thank you for your allowing me to advise you on this issue.

How to Defrost Refrigerator Defrost Timer Problem

in 601 model. really common problem is the drain hater. watch close the ice maker for a BIG long ice. on the cotton psrt of the back wall. some models have 1 some 2 depends in the serial num. ask you tech for replace the DRAIN TUBE HEATER. that way your cover. really helps a lot the code number...................good luck................. leave a comment...........thanks
